This Sunday is Pentecost Sunday!
Pentecost is the day we celebrate the birth of the Church and the power of the Holy Spirit poured out on God's people. This theme will be woven throughout our service, and as tradition, we are encouraging everyone to wear red this Sunday as we celebrate together!
Last week we saw Nehemiah and his people confront their enemies full on. But the enemies against the progress of the kingdom are not always outside the walls. Fortunately, Nehemiah knows what to do about the trouble within, and therein lies our lesson.
God is moving at Community Covenant. As we celebrate Pentecost together this Sunday, we encourage you to take a moment to explore the updates below and see where God might be inviting you next.

Women's Retreat | June 6, 2026
The Women's Ministry Team of Community Covenant Church is planning our 2nd annual Women's Retreat with Andrea Gurney! We had an uplifting, encouraging, fruitful time with Andrea last October, and she has more to share with us, so we have invited her to be with us again. ?
This retreat will be held on Saturday, June 6 from 9-1. (It will end with a lovely lunch together.)
Please mark your calendar now, and feel free to invite a friend. This will be a sweet time to get to know one another better, and to grow deeper with the God who loves us more than we can imagine!

All Church Time of Prayer | This Sunday After the Service
Join us this Sunday, May 24th, following the service at around noon, for a 30-minute time of corporate prayer.
This gathering will be a space for us to seek God together as a church family-praying for our church, our community, and our personal walks with Jesus in the year ahead. We'll begin with a guided time of prayer together, followed by an opportunity for anyone who would like to share a personal prayer request and be prayed for by others in our church family.
We believe there is something powerful about coming together in prayer-gathered, dependent, and expectant before God-and we would love for you to join us.

Wise Financial Stewardship Seminar Sunday, May 31 | 11:45 a.m. | Community Covenant Church
Money is more than numbers-it reflects what we value and tells a story about our lives. Join us following worship for a free seminar with Covenant Trust as we explore biblical financial stewardship, estate planning, and tax-wise giving. Together, we'll consider how to care well for those we love and create a legacy that honors God beyond our lifetime.

At Community Covenant Church, one of the things we love most about Sundays is the way people are welcomed-through warm conversations, meaningful connections, and a genuine sense of belonging. Our greeting time and fellowship moments are a true reflection of that.

Outdoor Worship & Church BBQ Sunday, June 7th | 10:00am | Community Covenant Church Back Lawn
Join us on Sunday, June 7th for a special Outdoor Worship Service at Community Covenant Church of Goleta!
We're looking forward to gathering together on the back lawn for worship, teaching, fellowship, and a meaningful morning together as a church family.
After the service, stick around for a church-wide BBQ and potluck!
The church will provide drinks, plates, utensils, and BBQ grills. We're inviting everyone to bring:
• Meat for your family or group to throw on the BBQ (Picnic lunch ok too)
• A side dish or dessert to share potluck-style
• A chair or blanket for the outdoor service
There will be lawn games, great food, and plenty of time to connect together as a church community.
And don't forget:
• Invite a friend or neighbor
• Come hungry
• Bring your own chair or blanket for seating

He Said, She Said, We Said: The Art and Science of Communication
An encouraging and practical evening designed to help strengthen your marriage and deepen communication.
Why do simple conversations sometimes turn into frustration or misunderstanding? Why does one person want to process while the other wants to solve the issue and move on? Communication is shaped by personality, experiences, emotions, and habits-and healthy communication can be learned.
In this fun, date-night-style workshop, Dr. Andrea Gurney will help couples better understand what's happening beneath the surface in everyday conversations and provide practical tools to move from conflict and confusion toward connection and understanding.
Do you like to read books and discuss your ideas with others? If so, please join the Community Covenant Book Club, which meets at 3:00 the last Wednesday of every month in the Media Room at the Church.
This month we will be reading two short works by Russian authors. We will be reading "The Grand Inquisitor," which is an excerpt from Dostoevsky's novel The Brothers Karamozov. We will also be reading Solzhenitsyn's classic short story Matryona's House.
The Grand Inquisitor is available for free at https://www.gutenberg.org. "Matryona's House" can be found in a collection of Solzhenitsyn's short works (Kindle or book store or library copy).
