Hello Community Covenant Church of Goleta!

This Sunday, we're looking forward to another meaningful time of worship together as a church family. Whether you've been with us for years or you're brand new, you are welcome here-and we believe God has something for you this week.

This week we take a look at one of the briefest of the Psalms, but one of the most potent of the Psalms. We should all have time to pre-read Psalm 100, which will also serve to call us to worship!

There are so many exciting things happening here at Community Covenant Church, and we are excited to see God work in many ways here at CCC! Please read below on all that is coming up! We can't wait to see you this Sunday!

LIFE AT COMMUNITY COVENANT

? Outdoor Service, Beach Baptism & BBQ - THIS SUNDAY! ?

This Sunday, August 17th, we get to gather for one of the most meaningful and joy-filled days of the year-a day of worship, celebration, and community!

We'll begin the morning with an outdoor worship service on the back lawn at Community Covenant Church. Then, right after the service, we'll head over to Goleta Beach for baptisms and a bring-your-own-meat BBQ/potluck as we celebrate new life in Christ together.

Here's the plan:

10:00 AM - Outdoor Worship Service Location: Community Covenant Church back lawn
Bring your own chair and enjoy worship under the summer sky!

After Service - Baptisms & BBQ at Goleta Beach
Baptisms will take place right next to the pier.
Afterwards, we'll walk toward the playground for our BBQ and potluck.

Bring:

Something to grill
A side dish or dessert to share
Your friends, family, and appetite!

Look for the CCC tent when you arrive.

A Few Notes:

This is a bring-your-own-meat event-BBQ grills will be ready for you! If you're not into grilling, you're welcome to bring a packed lunch instead. There will be plenty of space for kids to play, fellowship, and beach time after lunch. Let's come ready to worship, celebrate, and enjoy one another in the beauty of God's creation!

Charli Wood
Hi, my name is Charli.
I came to faith because my friend Lucy invited me to youth group here at this church. From there, she encouraged me to come on Sundays, and that's where my faith began to grow. I honestly wouldn't be here at the beach today if it weren't for her.

I want to be baptized because I want to show that I'm committing my life to Jesus and walking in my faith from this day forward.

Amelia Schuette
Hi my name is Amelia.
I want to be baptized because I want everyone to know that I've decided to stay close to God and serve Him. I love Jesus, and I want my friends and family to see that I'm choosing to follow Him.

Joshua Schuette
Hi, my name is Joshua.
I'm being baptized because I want to be closer to God and to my church family. I want everyone to know that I love Jesus and I'm choosing to follow Him. This is my way of showing my faith and being part of the community that helps me grow closer to Him.

Ian Gilmore
Hi, my name is Ian.
I have actually been wanting to get baptized for a few years now but it never felt like the right time. I've realized there won't be a perfect time and I want to make a public commitment to Jesus and I don't want to wait to make this lifelong change.

CCC Book Club: Meets Next on August 27!?

Do you like to read books and discuss your ideas with others? Are you interested in what great authors have to say about the Christian walk? If so, please join the Community Covenant Book Club! Meetings are at 3:00pm on the last Wednesday of every month in the Media Room at the Church. We will be reading and discussing That Hideous Strength, the third volume of C.S. Lewis's Space Trilogy. The Book Club is open to all!

Following up on Pastor Eric's Summer Reading recommendation, the CCC Book Club will hold a special session at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, September 17, to discuss Corrie Ten Boom's The Hiding Place. The discussion session is open to all!

Please Note: (N. B. Due to the Greek trip, the regular session of the Book Club will not meet in September. The regular Book Club meetings will resume beginning on Wednesday, October 29.)

For more information, contact Jean Marie Schultz at email address jean_schultz@ucsb.edu.

Join Pastor Eric as he leads us through the life and times of the great Apostle Paul!??

Even 2000 years later, historians continue to ask who this important history-shaping man was. Over the course of these sessions, we will explore those questions by surveying his historical context and then examining the original sources that tell his story. In the end, we will be better positioned to appreciate, value, and even love what St. Paul contributed to our Christian faith.

We will convene for the last time this Sunday, on August 17th, in the Media Room at 6pm and wrap up at 7:30. This mini-course will provide helpful information for those heading on the tour this fall, but everyone is welcome?
